Darcy Rothchild

This doesn't looks good, already late on Character of the Month. This is February's Character of the Month. I just needed some sunlight for a quick photo which seemed to take me all month to remember to do. Not as stylish as last month's photos, but time seemed to slip away on me.

As a Dutchess of a small province,  Darcy Rothschild, fit in well enjoy enough. Her teenage years were filled with learns on etiquette, royal lineage, courtship and all the other mundane aspects of being part of an oligarchy as well as fencing, horseback riding and archery.

Up holding diplomatic relations with other provinces saw her travelling throughout the land. On a visit to the capital, Yarmouth, she disguised herself to blend in with the locals, secretly desiring to learn how to handle seacrafts. If she was ever caught, she would be outed from the royal bloodline, being a service that is thought to be beneath her. Darcy craved adventure and to have her own crew aboard a Galleon.

Aboard, the Stoic Defence, she met Kaxire. A tiefling who showed her essential skills in navigation, sea warfare and sword fighting. Darcy learned it was life or death out on the sea, pirates play for keeps. Darcy became close with Kaxire, she didn't want to leave her second life and Kaxire was the only one that knew about her other life. The Dutchess had to keep up appearances, so she had to leave, but told Kaxire she would be back, giving her a sending stone to keep in touch. How long would Darcy be able to keep up this facade?

Darcy Rothschild is a human fighter for this character of the month. The figure is a Wizkids Wave 4 Pirates, they do come with a very slim disc for a base, but I wanted to make the characters of the month on similar round bases.

February Round Up

Note for next time, I need to start making my blog entries when stuff happens instead of at the end of the month. Much easier to break it up in bite sized chunks for me and my memory. Oh also need to take pictures of my games.

To start this month off, Rachel picked out one of the new games she had on her list, Targi, to play together this month. My elder brother,Shawn, gifted it to us for Christmas this year. We both enjoyed the game, really tight game mechanics specifically for two players. Targi uses a grid of 16 cards with players picking one of the border cards to dictate which rows and columns will be their actions for that round. Opponents can't take actions across from pawns already played or where the thieve is placed.

Standings at the end of the game.

Usually, I would be able to get a row or column to either get resources I needed or block Rachel, but this would come at the cost of not getting the right column as Rachel would play her pawn on the column. We did pretty well, scoring 37 for Rachel and 32 for me, there was a couple times I miss read or interpreted resources and gold as interchangeable when they aren't. I will also note that we started the game on my birthday during a nap, then continued the next day after work and during another nap, Rosalind woke up from a nap before scoring which made it more tense to find out who won!

Sunday BBBS D&D had a new participant. The party went to investigate a disappearance at a farmhouse. When they rolled up on the house they noticed a cellar at the back of the house. Alright what do you do? I throw dynamite! Is what the new player cried out. Not worrying about details in the moment, I said okay you chuck the dynamite. Orcs came out to check out the explosion. Which is where we stopped. I don't want to go too off the rails with random stuff to happen, but I appreciate integration. The players are new and have pretty simple characters for ease of use, so this made me discuss this with the player after the session. Did they sneak in somewhere to find dynamite? Phandalin is a mining town, dynamite or a fantasy resource similar to dynamite could exist in this world. Or maybe this character's rogue character isn't just a rogue, maybe they are an arcane trickster, a blend of wizard and thief. It's a nice way to workshop this idea.

Squirrel plotting near tree.

Rachel and I played through the expansion of Photosynthesis: Under the Moonlight, which adds in, you guessed it a moon cycle. I picked this up with my order from Board Game Bliss in January without really looking at reviews, because CUTE ANIMALS! What could Rachel want more in a board game? The game now has the sun and moon cycle and moving around forest critters to collect said lunar rays. Rules stated to randomize the critters, Rachel got the turtle, slow but can dig up babies for bonus victory point objectives and I got the squirrel, fast to basically never miss the movement of the moon and can eat seeds that the opposing player plants. Both were fun to play, there is a total of 8 forest critters to play. We played Moon and the Forest Animals with Moonstones, but could have played with The Great Elder Tree instead.

If a tree falls in the forest does the turtle care?

Rachel went to visit her mother in Fort Saskatchewan to help around the house. I feel so helpless when she leaves with Rosalind, not only does she take care of our child, she is a domestic, a nurse and daughter for her mom. They have been travelling a lot as a daughter/mother duo, Rachel has shown great strength and determination when it comes to taking care of Rosalind, I have the bar set high for when I start my parental leave at the end of March.

While away, Rachel gives me repairs and such to do around the house. We have multiple pets that makes it a bit difficult to leave our house for super long, luckily we have my brother, Nathan, who isn't as allergic to our cats, who will come to take care of them almost every time we leave.  Another reason why I stay home. Work, cats, and house.

Besides fighting off entropy of our rest shack, and feeding our somewhat domesticated lions, I was able to play a couple games of Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island.

The first tutorial game we played on Family Day with my brothers, Shawn and Nathan, I read the much thorough and competently written rules and thus picked up a bunch of rules that I didn't use or know about. This game went pretty smooth, that is until the Carpenter (me) found a venomous snake in his boot, getting sick and bringing the morale of the survivors all the way down. We all died on round 6 due to lack of health care on the island.

On Sunday that weekend, we were determined to beat the first scenario. Focusing on the goal of making a 10 piece wood pile and making a fire to signal our rescue. We took it a bit too cautious to begin, assigning two pawns on exploring, gathering and building which meant that we would guarantee our success, but would make our progress slower and have no extra events happen. This could be rewards now for a punishment later, something we kept taking our last game, which is probably why we lost. For the most part they are hinderances.

Castaway, the first scenario, eases you into game mechanics, adding weather slowly, first just rain on rounds 4-6, then snow and wandering animals from 7-12. On the second last night, our island was hit with a devastating snow storm. We were forced to discard food and wood to help keep ourselves warm for the night. The next morning, before actions, we were to have the stockpile ready to signal the rescue, but we were one wood short.

Between games Adventures on the Cursed Island, Shawn came over to play Marvel Champions: The Card Game. I enjoy this game, there is a lot of replay value in the base set. Each player selects a hero and creates a deck based on four archetypes, then picks a villain to face as a group. Your options for heroes are Spider-man, Iron Man, She-Hulk, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel. With it being a Living Card Game, money will get you even more! Three villains are in the set as well, each having a bit different AI.

I played Black Panther, who is a "build up" type character, starting out weaker, then as he gets upgrades he can activate them all at once. Shawn was Captain America who discards cards to throw his shield around. While the players are heroes, the villain will just attack them, but as they switch to alter egos, the villain will scheme, which acts like a timer. If they scheme too much, they will succeed in their plans, adding minions or power up.

That is about it for playing, I was pretty busy painting this month. Originally, I thought I would do the Final Girls Expansion to Don't Look Back because it is Fem-bruary. Time to focus on the female miniatures! Okay so I didn't quite completely focus on just females, as I just painted all the miniatures in the core box as well, but that's still 7 minis. Working on some terrain for this setting to take a proper picture of the gang, for now, have one on top of my basing material container.

The whole gang with two killers, Jason is kitbashed from a Hal Gordan heroclix.

I would also like to take this time to mention that I will be taking commissions for eyes. HA! I kid, he looked pretty good without the whites so now I don't want to make it even worse.

I also finished off my Character of the Month, name and backstory to be determined with her own post and better photography.

I spend a whole month neglecting the Corpse Wrack Mausoleum, time to get it done! The new Kill Team: Nachomonday is really catching my attention. Chaos and Corsairs! Could just run those two without buying the compendium. Might wait to see the price tag.

January Games

What a better time to talk about my January Games, then a week into February!

At the beginning of January, I was able to brave the cold and walk to my brother's apartment for a game. Shawn, my eldest sibling was interested in playing King of Tokyo or Mice & Mystics. In the end we played Mice & Mystics, thinking that the other game would be quick enough to play if we had time. I have taught this game several times, always starting on Chapter One, which does do a good job of getting you into the action, but it was getting a bit much to play it over and over.

My brothers, Shawn (left) and Nathan about to play Mice and Mystics

We agreed to play Chapter Two, this scenario the heroes have escaped the dungeon and are holed up in a tree. It happens to be a city for white mice that live in the castle. The mayor, Linera is troubled by the resent disappearance of the rangers that have been sent out for supplies, specifically her daughter Lilly.

Lilly is located on the final tile, ensnared by a mousetrap and fighting off cockroaches. The heroes need to cross the courtyard they just came from to enter the castle again. This means evading the hungry Old Crow. If anyone, heroes or minions, rolls a 1 on their movement the Old Crow deals a wound to them without their defense roll. Shawn played Tilda, Nathan Filch and I Nez. Filch can carry an extra weapon in his tail, which we all tried to search for on each tile to no avail, we did find some armour for Nez though. Tilda deals more damage while beside allies that are wounded and Nez's hammer is most optimal on a space adjacent to minions.

Moments before this rat rolled a 1 and was scooped by the Old Crow

The first tile was quick to give us a Surge, normally cockroaches steal cheese from the heroes in lieu of damage. These roaches were GREEDY - meaning they added the cheese to the minion cheese wheel, making surges more frequent, moving out page marker closer to failure and changing the foes we face later in the game.

The roach behind the centipede desperately trying to get into base contact to eat our cheese

Lilly's epic slap fight with a roach comes to an end

Lilly and the cockroaches, were both unable to hit each other for the entire game. But once the prospect of rescue was presented to the ranger, she became fired up, and one shot the boss, a centipede called Skit-Clak. After cleaning up the rest of the rat minions, the heroes freed her. One more cheese slice on the minion cheese wheel, and we would have lost.

Can't kill a roach, but can one shot a boss!

Shawn was interested in continuing our campaign, this meant we get to carry over one item from this Chapter. Nez was gifted by Filch a suit of Fishscale Armour, which is plus one defense and the ability to swim better but will attract Brody's attention. Brody is a cat that appears as a boss occasionally. This chapter did have a side quest that we could encounter him, but we opted not to do it due to time constrains. Lilly will be used by Rachel, the next time we play, it is on one of the "new/ forgotten" games to play for this year.

Played Between to Castles of Mad King Ludwig, no pictures, I loss, but did get 52 points on both castles. Talk about consistency! My friend Shaye and I are running two nights of D&D  for BBBS using the Essentials Kit for small one shot adventures. Playing in Roll 20 and only once a month, this was the first session. I had two players, one was a big and other was his "little". Little is a relative term, he was actually 15, original, we played for younger groups and made the classes more accessible. Hopefully we will get more kids out, as Shaye's group was a parent, a "Big" and one "little" or combine the two groups.

On Monday I was solo parenting and decided to play through Robinson Crusoe - Adventures on the Cursed Island. I read through the rules a bit silly, only reading what I needed to to play and not looking into weather, which plays a large part of the late game. It was pretty fun, Friday and Dog were my companions, though that nasty Sea Lion wasn't not interested in playing nice! Yowch! The rules in the version I have are poorly laid out, I found some online that look much better, might print them to make it clearer.

This was a Greater Danger Sea Lion, dealt 4 wounds!

The following evening, Rachel was up for a quick game, she wanted to do Lords of Waterdeep. She likes to reread the rules before playing, so it was a bit too involved for her mind at the time. Instead, I suggested Machi Koro, which took slightly over an hour.

My fruit and vegetable market was my big ticket roll, but it also meant that Rachel got to roll her Tuna boats, twice for two of them! That's a lot of dough! Rachel was slow to start, she focused on red shops, that would take money away from the opponent, which trigger first. So as long as I spent my money, she wouldn't get much from me. I would focus on blue and green card, oh, besides a couple red and one purple that took money. Both only had one landmark to build by the end, I just got a good roll. Next turn, I am sure I would have lost.

I frequent board game bliss from time to time, they have some pretty good sales, harder to find items from indie developers and of course Shadows of Brimstone still in stock! I split the order with my co-work/friend John and my brother to get free shipping or as I would call it, my excuse to buy more stuff! Runewars is being phased out, so they were only $11 buck for some sweet looking skeletons. We all need more skeletons! The Doctor/Nurse character pack I figured it would be more enticing to play for Rachel, being an actual nurse. And demons are cool? I don't have a good answer for the succubi besides MORE Shadows of Brimstone! Mr. Cabbagehead's Garden was the original reason for ordering, as my eldest brother Shawn, wanted it for Christmas, and seeing as his birthday is in March. I thought I would buy it early while it was in stock. The game is two player or solo, so it's also a good distraction for the pandemic world we are in.

On the last Saturday of the month, I invited my co-worker friend, John, to play Everdell with Rachel and I. He hadn't played it before, the mechanics of the game are like most worker placement games, with the addition of using the cards in the Meadow (the 8 cards in the middle) as a shared community pool that all players can access and retrieving workers is up to the player by preparing for the season. Next time I teach it, I think I will give some tips to build constructions, specifically green ones as they activate after the first and last seasons.

Snapped a quick picture as we were about to clean up.

Pelgwis Ambletrek

The Ambletrek family name is a bit of an oddity for gnome culture, known for their wanderlust. Seeking adventure and living a nomadic life instead of becoming recluses in a community of relatives. Pelgwis, or Pel as some of his close friends call him, devoted his late teenage years to The Valor of the Serpent's Path. Members of the guild journey to far off lands to root out corruption and injustice.  During his travels, the small statute of the halfling was receptive of ridicule, followed immediately by gut busting laugher. A gnome? That if going to take on a group of bandits single handedly, how absurd! It was only after the pint sized paladin whooped all sorts of wicked butt, that the mockery would stop. Pelgwis needed a new image, something that would make him the visage of justice. Though he didn't follow in normal gnomish tendencies, Pel had talent in the workshop. Tinkering with machines when he had time to spare in the next city he visited. After months of tweaking and testing, his fine mastery of gadgetry was now ready to be revealed.

Pelgwis Ambletrek

Ready to defend the weak

A fearsome lizard, one tyrant of all lizards, would show the vile cretons of the realm to think twice about their actions.

This is my first entry in the Character of the Month Challenge that the_goodground has issued for anyone to join. The challenge is to paint one miniature a month that would fit into a D&D 5th edition party, any race and class combination. Use the hashtag #paintanadventuringparty on Instagram. This is a great idea! I have an addiction to Wizkids/ Reaper Bones miniatures what better way to get them painted for the table. This model was part of the resent Reaper Bones kickstarter that I received last year, it will be nice to choose a new model, one that I am inspired to paint in that moment.

I browsed my collection and what I don't have, or at least very little of, are miniatures of any of the shorter races. Before any gnome, halfling or dwarf lovers out there get upset and start typing out nasty comments on my blog, I figured I would have a round about way of adding more races, okay, so it's a bit of a cop out.

This challenge doesn't specify alignment, would be fun to have 6 models as a "hero party" and 6 models as a "villain party". Doubt that I'll work a narrative around all of the characters actually being in a party together, but could live in the same world.

The Corpsewrack Mausoleum is getting to be very close to done, hopefully I will be able to show it off soon. Another challenge I heard about is Fembruary, which is focusing on strong female characters. This challenge was specific to painting, which might be a good time to paint up my Don't Look Back - Final Girls Expansion.

Looking into 2022

Now, 2022, after a year of maternity leave for Rachel, she will go back to work. This will begin my paternity leave for 6 months. This will be a good time to go out for family vacations for the summer. Rachel is already planning a trip to Prince Albert National Park to pick up some seeds that she wants to plant in our backyard. That won't be the only park we visit this summer. Grasslands National Park, Candle Lake, Narrow Hills Provincal park, Sask landing and Great blue Heron were on Rachel's short list of places she wanted to experience as well as old favourites, Riding Mountain, Echo, and Douglas.  I know Rosalind will be ready to explore nature by then!

Rachel also mentioned making a point of playing 2 board games a month, a mix of revisiting old board games and learning rules (or relearning in some cases) for new games. We made up a list of games to play

Rachel's New picks

Mice and Mystics - haven't gotten passed the second chapter, I usually teach the first chapter as it gives a good feel to the game.

Root Underworld Expansion - haven't played the Corvid Conspiracy factions

Everdell - played less then a handful of times.

Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig - this was a last year? Christmas gift, got out maybe 2 times

Rachel's Old picks

Lords of Waterdeep

Dinosaur Island (aka Rachel's OHS nightmare of a park)

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle - Finished main game once, haven't played The Monster Box of Monsters Expansion

Pandemic - have been playing that for a year and a half, am I right?

Takenoko

Scythe (hope to play the expansions with more players, one which is a legacy game)

Castles of Mad King Ludwig

Machi Koro

All of Rachel's picks I am game for, she picked out these from memory, this list will get longer as we actually look through our collection together.

As for me, I have a few games for solo play, because, let's face it, at some point I might not have people in my house this year. On a less somber note, is that most of these games I could show off to others after fumbling with the rules on my own. Also I am adding skirmish games, if you don't like it, make your own list.

Jon's New List

Reign in Hell - Models agnostic skirmish game, one of the reasons I picked up the Dreamblade models last year.

Super Mission Force - Repainting and purchasing old heroclix for this, I have 12 repaints done. I wouldn't say anything solid for a team, so that will be one of my goals.

Shadows of Brimstone - With the core set mostly done, I hope to get this on the table soon! I even picked up a Doctor/ Nurse hero to entice Rachel a bit more to play.

Mage Knight - I hear it's a good solo game with some crunch, doubt I will try playing it with others.

Rising Sun

Robinson Crusoe - great solo game, even has a fan made expansion that has you trying to capture King Kong!

Don't Look Back! - Cooperative slasher flick, might be awhile before this gets on the table... painted anyways.

7 Wonders Cities - never played the expansion yet

Formula D - Played beginner, would like to try an advanced game, with 10 players!?

Five Leagues from the Borderlands - solo grimdark fantasy solo game with a focus on narrative play.

PrimEVO - prehistoric tribal survival game, has solo play too. Might not get to all the indie skirmish games, but would be nice to try each out.

Jon's Old List

Lord of the Ring's LCG - Rachel bought this like 5 or 6 years ago, and I found another copy used to make the game 4 players. I want to try getting a full group for this game, I enjoyed playing it before.

Memoir 44 - Light wargame that isn't too hard to teach.

Star Wars Imperial Assault/ Descent - Another two games that could be solo or with other players.

I am sure I could convince Rachel to play some of the skirmish games on my list She also wants to do more regular paint nights and get me to assemble to metal Onna Bugeisha or Female martial arts practitioners from Test of Honor.

As for goals, I have some loose goals that I would like to see happen.

One Character a Month - Over at Dead Dick's Tavern, the Angry Piper runs a challenge for himself, and anyone who wants to join in on the fun, to paint up one character a month using different classes from Dungeons and Dragons. What a great opportunity to clear out some of my Reaper Bones models from the pile of creativity. I haven't decided if I will also create backstories (or character sheets) for these miniatures or if I will stick to just fantasy models. We shall see how invested I get with the models.

RPG try outs - Last year I picked up the Alien RPG starter set, which gives you all you need to play a cinematic version of Alien. After all, if you aren't a higher up in one of the main factions, you are expendable. Rachel also had some interest in playing the Root RPG, we got the quick start rules at an RPG day, but haven't dug into them. Another RPG I would be interested in running is Slasher Flick, a 80s campy horror film that puts you in the shoes of the teenages (usually each player plays two) that are making all the wrong cliché decisions. Go ahead and tease the killer, go skinny dipping with that hunky boy, it's your funeral!

Painting Goals - A bunch of the skirmish games listed on my New list aren't painted, so if I want to show them off on the blog, I better get my brush onto plastic! Finishing off Shadows of Brimstone core set, is definitely an easy win, only 3 models left! Painting up all the expansions, roughly 21 models, might be a more reasonable goal, especial when we start playing and enjoying that game.

Don't Look Back is a bit more involved, 10 heroes, 1 killer, and 3 MDF terrain pieces plus scatter terrain. I guess only 4 heroes and a killer are required, who wants a plain looking board though?

Terrain/ Board creation - I have talked about custom rules for Space Hulk a few times, adding in Dark Eldar or Orks would be fun and making a 3D board for 40mm Terminators. Heck, add in other Tyranid bugs, even go as far as using genestealer cults for xenos that have taken over dead crew. Exciting stuff! I will also need to make a playing area for DLB and Super Mission Force, a generic grass field one or urban streets.

That's all my goals for now! 2022 is a moving target, if I get through half my goals I would be pretty pleased.

Next on the Hobby Desk!

My brothers and I played some Mice and Mystics, I will have a few things finished on the paint desk to show off.

Regifting 2021

Some of the painting that I finished over the last quarter of the year fell by the way side. So I present to you my rewrap up of 2021, painting edition.

First off, honourable mentions. The Goliath big baddie was almost done, which would have finished off the enemies in the core set (still two more heroes to paint).  The gender swap drifter is from a character expansion pack, a more respectable character then the "Saloon Girl" that is in the base set. I do enjoy that Flying Frog Productions has made the effort to create alternate genders for all their heroes. Even if you don't want to buy them all, they still have character sheets of them that can be printed off.

Did anyone ask for more Heroclix repaints? Well too bad, that's what I got. Mostly X-men, with a random gorilla minion thrown in, which will go good with the Gorilla Grodd I just picked up, along with several more mono pose monkeys.

Next we have the Shadows of Brimstone monsters, I had some heroes pictures from the front, but I must have deleted them from the phone due to poor lighting. Ooops! Oh well, there will be a group shot of them all soon.

Just your regular spiders

with sharp teeth!

Stranglers

Night Terrors

Time for some dynamite!

Looking at my painted vs purchased is not very good this year. I have painted 105 figures, against the 476 I had bought! Yikes! Definitely going to cut back on those old model lots that I find.

Alright, 2021, is official over on this blog, let's welcome 2022!

Wrap up of 2021

Where does the time go? Already another year in the bank, cashed by our elected officials at the expense of our frontline workers. I feel for all workers that needed support for someone to be on their side, instead of heaping on more of a burden onto our flimsy healthcare system. Blah! ANYWAYS!

This year was a lot of changes for Rachel and I, one of the individuals that I supported at work passed away, Rachel's mom was diagnosed with cancer, we had a baby (9 months and counting), and moved into a house that we bought with money and signatures. Yes, what a year it was! Hopefully we don't need to do anymore of that in 2022!

So what did I accomplish hobby wise? Well, I did finish off a lot of the Slaanesh in my "less crazy plan of 2021", the only thing that didn't get finished off were the 3 Fiends. I did paint up the Lord of Pain in the Shadows and Pain box. Maybe this Slaanuary I will continue start on the Hellstriders or Daemonettes that came in that box? Not going to lie, those new models in the Christmas battleforce are tempting.

PrimEVO models were also on the desk, painting up game for the tribes to hunt. Space Wolves Kill Team was created with the 2018 rules, might work in the new rules, but I doubt I will pick them up. Picking up Shadows of Brimstone later in the year, I have almost finished the Core Set, just haven't posted the results (was hoping to completely finish it, but house moving makes it hard to hobby). Oh and then there was the Heroclix, that I rebased for Super Mission Force.

As for terrain, I didn't get as much as I would have liked to get done, only finishing off a 3D printed house and some scatter terrain for Rangers of Shadowdeep

I did a bit of rule reading, but it was about new systems. Like Song of Blades and Heroes, Advanced Heroquest? I know, probably not going to commit on that one, but sometimes I do look at the simple models and want to buy or print some of the original ones. Why? Not sure, I have only played the game once, and long after it came out. Super Mission Force, and Homebrew rules for Space Hulk. Look, I said read stuff, I went for quantity instead of quality. For Space Hulk, I would like to make 3D junk made terrain, boards that would actually fit a standard 40mm Terminator. With less ability to play in person these days, I am gravitating towards solo play games and low cost rule sets, not that I really have had any time to play these days.

This seems like a lot of buying all at once. I mean don't get me wrong it was, this was exchanged in the summer and I traded for my space marine half of the dark imperium. Wasn't really into the Primaris Space Marines, instead, I found my original love, Dark Eldar circa early 2000s. The army that got me into the hobby.

So they aren't all old models, but the vast majority are. Break down as follows.

  • 10 x Kabalite Warriors
  • 26 x 2nd edition Kabalite Warriors
  • 2 x Incubi
  • 5 x Metal Incubi
  • 7 x plastic Wyches
  • 1 x Metal Archon
  • 1 x Raider
  • 4 x Jetbikes

The Raider and Jetbikes will most likely form some sort of patrol detachment, the bikes are newer and I have a set of three to add to them. Might be a fun project for later. Some of the aged models I will be reposing for Space Hulk, fingers crossed I can make it work in that rule set.

Oh, I did buy a PDF copy and physical copy of Reign in Hell. A collaboration project between Uncle Atom and Vince Venturella that was released earlier this year. Which got me to buy....

Just a couple of miniatures from ebay for converting, a lot of the design of these characters are dark (looking at you scarecrow the hanging baby) and would make for good demons with a fresh coat of paint. Call of Cthulhu comes to mind for the bug like creatures. But what about the house? Or the Lion Rampant? Can't say at the moment. I removed the duplicates for better up close pictures.

I ordered these back in October, must get better at upkeep on the blog. I know one of my new years goals.

The last of the minis I bought was setup back in November when we were moving houses, so I asked to postpone dropping them off till we were actually settled in the house. And that, is.... more Heroclix!

The whole gang!

Someone locally was selling off a giant collection and had most of what I wanted. When I had some down time in the fall I would look through HCrealms to find the sculpts I enjoyed. I would also focus on getting teams and themes together. Super Mission Force has rules for Paragon heroes, the equivalent of Superman, counting as 2 and a 1/2 Standard heroes, might work for the Sentinels, making it a bit unbalanced with 2 of them being 5 standard heroes. In that case, why not use 5 standard heroes. SMF recommends 4 standard heroes as it's balanced teams for both sides. Alternatively, they could be constructs, to run them as standard heroes. I digress, should break down hero building in another post.
