I appreciate the tutorial that I used gave each hobbit a distinct colour pattern. Merry and Pippin are pretty interchangeable in my mind, so giving them different coats and cloaks helps a lot.

I was going to post earlier, but I have a bad habit of waiting till a set of minis are finished. It just seems like I would get the social media endorphin hit before actually finishing what I started, making me less eager to finish the miniatures? Maybe that's just me.
The fellowship themselves is around 600 points for the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game. Not the easiest list to field as they are all heroes with special rules, but still can be done. I looked through the Quest for the Ringbearer rules, which follows the ring to Mount Doom with like 28 scenarios. Might be a bit expensive to find all the different models for said scenarios though, but I would work with what I got. There is also a Fantasy Fellowship section in the book that allows for building your own fellowship. Basically a "What if..." rule set, which does sound interesting.

*Soul piercing scream* That's right, time to finish up some Ringwraiths! They are getting their best cloaks from the drycleaners and will be ready to hunt for the ring.
Excellent looking fellowship Johhny, haven't really looked at these models since they first came out, and luckily for me I only had to paint two of them for the shops cabinet, plus I had a friend at the Eavy Metal team who sent me the list of all the colours used for each one, saved a lot of time ! LOL

ReplyDeleteWhat is the typical point level for a game of MESBG? Is 600 a regular game size, or do you need a few more? Or is it MORE than an average game!?
I've never played the game, but I have a BUNCH of stuff I picked up over the years, intending to use the miniatures with other game systems. Last year I had a brief moment were I started rebasing them and painting a few:

If you do decide to play through the entire Quest for the Ringbearer and don't have enough Isengard and/or Rohan models, I'd be happy to help out - if you're willing to make a trip or two up to Saskatoon to play through any scenarios against Isengard!
(might need a bit of a heads up, as I need to finish rebasing all the Isengard stuff and have a few Rohan riders and foot to finish up!)
Who knows, the quest for the ringbearer might just be a pipe dream. I was curious about what models you'd actually need and found this blog. (https://tellmeatalegreatorsmall.blogspot.com/2020/12/quest-of-ringbearer-what-do-you-need-to.html) Some doesn't seem too bad and 3D printing would definitely be a good option for some stuff that is "temperarily out of stock" on GW's site.
Deleteoh right! thanks! It helped that I followed a tutorial online. I haven't had the time to play yet, but 600 points seems like the low end for tournaments. I have Eomer and Eowyn to paint up if I want to just do an all hero list, which probably isn't a great idea for starting out.
DeleteOh, wait, that's not true.. I did play, like 21 years ago (Is it really THAT LONG!?) with a friend in Calgary that I was visiting. He had a BUNCH of stuff for the game and set up a big scenario for us to play (I think there were five of us that played). I have no memory of the rules - which might not matter, because, for all I know, it's an entirely different game now. I'm pretty sure it's been through a few different iterations in the last two decades!
