New Year, New Game System

For awhile now, I have been looking at Necromunda, thinking that the model range looks great. I heard that Shadow wars played like old Necromunda, which I enjoyed, but the new Necromunda is a bit of it's own beast rules wise.

The Dark uprising box was exactly what I was looking for, an easy entry to the system with everything needed to start playing. I was definitely put off with the price, and the Corpse Grinder cult didn't really speak to me, so they would've been sold off anyways. To eBay I went, finding a deal on the rules that came with Dark Uprising, dice, scatter terrain, counters and templates. (which I still had from the Dark Vengeance set I purchased when I was getting back into the hobby)

I didn't pick up a gang yet, figured I would read through the rules and fluff before getting too far into the game. Reading up online, it seems that I'll also need the Gangs of the Underhive book as well if I am not playing the Corpse Grinders or Palanites. With newer gangs out, it's only a matter of time before an updated Gangs book is published. I am in no rush at the moment, with my other hobbies taking up most of my painting time.

Speaking of which....

Less Nurgly Warriors, blessed with tufts of grass.

All 10 together.

Pretty happy with how they look mixed together. I went with a simple base, might add snow to it later.

GW just announced that Slaves to Darkness will also be getting rules for War Cry, looks like Warriors will be one of the units that can be used, as well as Chaos Marauders, and Chaos Marauder Horsemen. Excited to get this army on the battlefield but still have 10 more to go. I bought a metal Morathi to use as a Chaos Sorceress Lady. I might paint her in the future, but she is paint rather well and I have the rest of the battleforce to crack through (including a Warshrine and Chariot)

The local shop is also running a Warhammer 40k Escalation league from January - March, it starts at 750 and goes to 1500. I was thinking of using an army besides my Death Guard, like Tyranids or Eldar, but I have close to 1500 of Death Guard already painted and assembled so I might as well use what's ready. I'll post some battle reports from that.

Coming Soon!

With my birthday in February, I was thinking it'd be fun to get some of my friends to play gaslands. Hopefully I can convince them to paint up some of their own cars for some CARnage. Ha!

Chaos Warriors of Nurgle

I got a start on the Chaos Warriors painting up a group of five to see how I liked the colour scheme that I had seen online. I kitbashed the older models with the Putrid Blight King box. These boxes are an amazing deal for any nurgle player, roughly a full sprue of extras that you could use after making the unit of 5.

I don't think I'll have quiet enough bits from the blight kings to do all 20 Warriors, but to have 10 or so mixed in with the regular ones will give these more static figures a bit more of lively feel.

Coming Soon!

More Chaos Warriors! 15 to go! Might split them up between other painting so I don't get burnt out on them.

Slaanesh beckons....

Well, this wasn't quiet part of the plan. Okay, so I didn't really have a plan. I was going to paint my slaves to darkness battleforce and the sisters of battle before getting any new projects. But then......

That's a lot of DAEMONS!

I did ask for some Greater Daemons on the forums, so this is definitely not that big of a surprise. I hope to use most of the Daemons in Wrath and Glory. Specifically the Bloodthirster and the Keeper of Secrets that was sealed (which I promptly opened to see if it was metal or resin, and it's resin.) This is what this lot included....

39 Bloodletters (18 Plastic/21 Metal)
1 Daemon Prince Metal
Bloodthirster
Karanak
13 Flesh Hounds (8 that look more like rats and one with a Scorpion tail?)
3 Bloodcrushers

Keeper of Secrets
Forgeworld Greater Daemon of Slaanesh
3 Slaanesh Fiends (one missing an arm)
Azazel, Daemon Prince of Slaanesh
Chaos Spawn (Scyla Anfingrimm)
1 Mounted Aspiring Champion
Ogroid Thaumaturge
6 Flamers metal
2 Daemon Prince (one 40k Metal/ one plastic)
Metal Abaddon

With this lot though, I could easily use them as their own army or an ally for the Slaves to Darkness.

Bloodmaster - 3 power level/ 56 points
Skulltaker - 5 power level/ 84 points
Karanak 4 Power Level/ 70 points

Bloodletters  4 Power Level/ 70 points
Bloodletters  4 Power Level/ 70 points
Bloodletters  4 Power Level/ 70 points

Bloodcrushers 8 Power Level/ 141 points

Flesh Hounds (10) 8 Power Level/ 150 points

Total of 40 Power Level
Total of 711 points

That's a pretty good start for a Khorne daemons army for 40k.

The Metal Daemon Prince could be used as a proxy for a Bloodmaster that gives +1 Strength to Khorne Daemons that are within 6" of him.

The list I made with these Khorne daemons is similar to the 40k one, adding in Scyla Anfingrimm, who gets more attacks as he gets wounded! Also Scyla is eligible to attack from 8 inches away, piling in 5" when it's his turn to fight.

Leader
Bloodmaster
Skulltaker
Scyla Anfingrimm

Battlelion
Bloodletters (20)
Flesh hound (10)
Bloodletters (10)

Other
Blood crushers (3)

Total: 950

Clearly the 50 remaining points would be used for an endless spell, that is if Khorne didn't despise all things magical.

This Aspiring Champion will fit in well into the Slaves to Darkness army, throw a shield in his hand and a fresh coat of paint on him and his ride. He will slay many foes as a mounted Champion of Khorne.

The daemon Prince here is specific to 40k, I have this exact model in my nurgle army, good thing I kept some Crypt Flayer wings for such a project. Maybe I'll make this one worship Khorne.

The Bloodthirster is painted quiet well for what I'd be using him for, might need a light dusting and possibly more detail on the base. That might be for when my other projects are finished.... yeah, right.

The Slaanesh side of things, I do have 10 daemonettes, 5 seekers and The Masque to go along with the fiends and the greater daemon.  Probably not the best start of a list but could be worked with, but not starting building that list for now. Not sure what Abaddon will turn into, or if he will just turn into a generic Chaos Lord.

Coming soon!

Progress on the Slaves to Darkness army? Sisters? eBay purchases?! Who knows.... Well this time I do, I have some Chaos Warriors finished up that I'll be showing off.

The Dark side calls....

This week I have been finishing up the Imperial side of the two core sets of Star Wars Legion.... Oh and Bossk, because who doesn't like a crocodile bounty hunter?

Bossk has one scene in Empire Strikes Back with all the other no name bounty hunters. Boba Fett just got luck and figured out where Han Solo would be. He also doesn't talk, better make a figure of that guy.... I mean I bought it so clearly there is a demand for it.

"Okay you two, stop trying to shoot each other."

I have a prettt good start to a first list. I finished up Dark Vader for a commander, he is more on the expensive side, at 190 base then he can take his force powers and such. Legion is played with 800pts, so that's already 25% of an army there. Hopefully, I'll get some games in with Vader, but I'll be painting up a Dewback and Lord Krennic which will give me more options as Krennic is only 90 points or so.

Sisters of Battle box

Flipping through the Sister of Battle codex for some fluff about the different Orders, hoping I'd find a paint scheme that I would enjoy as well as the history of the Order that stood out. I have narrowed it down to three...

Order of the Valorous Heart

Each Order focusing on how it's their leader was martyred. The Order of the Valorous Heart are stone walls, they endure all trials that are thrown at them. Their leader was captured, her eyes gouged our by at death cult. She was forced to listen to thousands of inoccents tortured before her, some being part of her own order. Her comrades would endure the tortore silently as to lessen her pain.    sisterhood takes this to heart. If they need to poison the water supply on a planet to draw out their enemy they will and thrive through the battle.
Order of the Valorous Heart

The Order of the Golden Light had been confirmed twice to have been martyred in battle, only for golden-clad Sisters to appear nearby the war zone.
Order of the Sacred Rose

The Order of the Sacred Rose, these Sisters believe completely in the Emperor's will. Even when one of their Sisters fall, they know a martyred soul can spark a fire in a thousand souls. They are usually seen followed into battle with throngs of their followers, hoping to witness a miracle.

I enjoy painting up models in more unique colours schemes, and both Sacred Rose and Valorous Heart are really good for fluff. I might need to add in a few of each into my army, I mostly bought this box for Wrath and Glory, if I can find a group that would want to play it. Having a fully painted army of only one Order isn't necessary, and one of the downsides to getting this box is that you only get one special weapon for each Battle Sisters Squad as well as the Seraphim. No Heavy Flamers or Plasma/Flame Pistols here unless you kitbash them or buy a box of multi-pose models.

With the Pre-release Adeptus Sororitas box I have:

HQ
Canoness - Power Sword 3PL (49pts)

Troops
Battle Sisters Squad x5 6PL (60pts)
Battle Sisters Squad x5 6PL (60pts)

Elite
Acro-Flagellant x3 2PL (45pts)
Sisters Rependia 4PL (60pts)
Rependia Superior 2PL (35pts)

Fast Attack
Seraphim Squad 6PL (72pts)

Heavy
Penitent Engines 5PL (100pts)

Total of 34PL (471pts)

A pretty good start to an army, I could even add it to an Admech list as a Vanguard Detachment, we shall see.

Coming Soon!

I'll be taking a closer look at my Star Wars Legions core sets that I have painted up over the holidays. And hopefully digging into my Slaves to Darkness battleforce that I bought last year! (as seen on my Pile O' Shame 2019!)

Blog? What Blog

Hey guys! I am alive and have been doing a lot of  gaming and painting since.... uh basically last year around this time.... I'll get better at this I promise! Let's go back in time and see what I was up to in 2019!

My FLGS, Comic Readers, hosts the Prairie Game Expo at a community center for one day of gaming that is free to the public and is a great way to learn new games and meet new people. This year they added a painting competition, I entered my Horticulous Slimux and my Carnosaurs, but he wasn't quite done. Lots of very talented artists, I didn't take any picks of the other entries, but there were some Star Wars Legion, Warmachine and both Warhammers. I mostly entered to give me an incentive to paint this guy up, I like he turned out pretty well.

I finished off all of Blackstone fortress miniatures, I'll need to take a picture of the other enemy units later. I have played a handful of games. Characters that aren't played are stored in "stasis" to keep their gear for next time, which is nice if you want to try out another character.

Purchased and painted all of Resident Evil 2 The Board Game (also finished the Remake too). Enemies react to the players, which gives the game a really tense feeling.

Picked up some Savage Orks to use for WarCry, still haven't gotten around to playing the game yet!

Painted up some Eldar for Kill Team, which turned into a bit of an army as I bought the Wake the Dead half from someone.

Start of the Vostroyan Firstborn Kill Team, glad to get these guys done in November as I had bought them when GW had them on Made to Order at the start of the year!

#minivember challenge in November, 30 models in 30 days. I was 5 models short, which I finished early December.

My girlfriend, Rachel, bought some Sylvaneth awhile ago, but got a huge lot from one of our friends (thanks Michael!) So it was time for her to learn how to play, I started her out with the AOS 2.0 skirmish. Highlights of the match was my general struggling off 3 mortal wounds (bless nurgle!) from her general's spell and the stalemate between four dryads and my plague drone above, it didn't help that the Dryads had a -1 to hit due to their tree behind them

Finished off to core sets of Stormtroopers for Star Wars Legion.

I did participate in two tournaments this year, one was a learning process for me as I hadn't played much of my Death Guard for the first tourney. The second one was a four player doubles tourney, it was nice to have a team mate and only 1000 points to worry about.
