Divine Twilight - Cawdor Gang Proxy

 Well, it's better late then never. 

Here for your viewing pleasure is my Cawdor Gang, I bought the minis from Mirliton. It's based out of Italy and they do some really good metal miniatures for sci-fi and fantasy. They also do some smaller 15mm scale sculpts if you are into that as well.

The Divine Twilight

When I ordered this back in March, while I was still riding off the Necromunda high after playing it at Toon Con, I was a bit nervous about getting anything shipped from Italy at the time, but with how long they actually took to show up. I figured 2 months on a boat was probably enough self isolation for the models.

The Divine Twilight, the religious gang is on the lips of thousands of hivers. Be it a whisper of members disappearing ("relocating" to spread the word of her coming) or devote followers let go abruptly after several years of service. All civilians have been in some way impacted by the organization or had known someone who is a follower. 

Preachers seek out weak spirited individuals among the hive, blessing them with words of faith. Reminding them that there is a way out of their poor, starving laboring lives, and it's through Him that they will find peace and tranquility. It is told that she will come again, appearing in visions of a majestic purple light in the dreams of those deemed worth of his visage. Once these misguided miscreants are recruited into the fold, they are privileged to come to ceremonies at the church after proving their worth. Followers are tasked with recruiting others to the church, where they worship, recite ancient text that time has forgotten, Each member striving to be more, desiring perfection in their work

Once a devotee has turned 19, they are now ready to take a pilgrimage out into the world, or the Sacred Mission. This holy rite of passage is how you get to see inside the Temples of Desire, where deprived screams of pleasure and pain echo throughout it's halls, fueling the imagination of the weak minded. On your pilgrimage, you will be moved off planet to ones that the High Chancellor would deem as having a "crisis of faith".

Sebastian & Mordecai

Sebastian and Mordecai have been on many missions together, despite a large number of them being on hostile planet. . Some of the other gang members often call them over achievers (which is saying a lot for a Cult of Slaanesh) as they are always sharing the same story, about how they were able to convert a Kroot. Qriaww, wasn't satisfied with the gene traits of one species, it desired more variety. A great hunger stirred in the great warrior, savaging fellow kroot and enemy a like, becoming a ravenous beast. Sebastian challenged the Kroot to a unarmed combat, and won. Sebastian promised that every enemy of the Divine Twilight were just as powerful as them, that combat would be exhilarating performance of art against those that were bred from the harshest environments. Qriaww would agree to follow the Divine Twilight as long as this was true.

Porter & Corvus

Corvus and Porter both are juves of the gang, joining the fight for a better life then hard honest work. Hoping to score big on a quick job.

Kalum & Klaudius

Kalum and Klaudius brothers that have been surviving on their own for years, the comfort of the gang life made it easier on their daily lives. Kalum was grievously wounded in battle, which forced him to wear a respirator. He hopes to acquire enough money to fix his wound with augmentations. Both believe in sharpening their own skills and one day commanding the gang themselves.

Cassius & Petro

Cassius and Petro, once enforcers that worked deep within the underhive, they now plan to secure supplies to the Divine Twilight from their connections within the force.

It might be fun to do a Kroot as one of their hangers on, but the size difference between the models would be pretty wild. So this is what I have as a list instead.

I will be going through my hobby resolutions for 2020, what has changed since the pandemic and what are my plans for 2021? Probably painting goals for now, till this pandemic thing cools down.

Goliath Gangers - Once Blind

As all Goliath gangers are meat heads that are bred for hard labour in some worker's union manager's

nightmare of a refinery plant that are also jacked up on drugs to continue their existence in said labour sites. I figured weight lifters would be a good source for names. But decided to use wrestlers for inspiration instead, as I have more of an interest in the material, I also used some feuds to make up the backstory to the characters as well.

This blog seems to be really messed up with formatting, some new lines using Headings for font, making it size 16 and bold. Other times indenting and not centering, usually weird stuff happens when I add pictures. Please don't adjust your monitors, it's just the demons in my computer trying to escape.

Once Blind gang

Lex Galan could have had it all, he was a rising star in Wasteland Wide Fighters. Surviving multiple fights against the likes of Nikita in the fighting pits, and spreading Goliath's influence throughout the harshest levels of the under hive. There was just one critical moment that cost him his title as leader of the gang. His gang was to stop any kinds of interruptions while House Goliath met with the House Escher to broker a large trade agreement. Stimm-elixirs are vital to the survival of House Goliath, with them the hulking laborers can toil endlessly in the refineries without much rest. But Lex and the rest of the "Butch Deadlifts" were busy taming their craving to escape the dredges of their harsh lives. Sting tried to convince the others that they needed to be alert for their duty, but they all ignored him.  House Orlock took advantage of their inebriated state, sabotaging refineries and looting their mineral deposits. The Over-Tyrant was furious, disowning all of the neglectful gangers that followed Lex. Sting was outraged at the outcome, he left Lex's gang without a word to his former leader.

Now an outcast, Lex Galan was miserable, still needing a fix of stimm-elixir to starve off the symptoms of withdrawal. After several fake highs from the drugs, and hitting rock bottom once while he wasn't able to find a fix. Lex came across preachers from House Cawdor called "The Divine Twilight". Tengus Astin was practiced at finding the down trotted of the under hives, speaking publicly outside of factories, neutral territories to the sick and unsupported in their daily lives. He would bring the light of the Emperor, giving them half truths that would bring them into House Cawdor. (more on him and The Divine Twilight next post.)

Listening to their teachings, he realized that he was part of a whole and that his addiction was greater then himself. Salvation wasn't in the stimms, it was in faith. With his new teachings fresh in his mind, which was now cleansed of his stimm-elixirs, he vowed to clean up House Goliath. His first target would be "The Four Headsmen." led by Flik Blair. Flik was a staunch believer in the continued stimm enslaverment of the rest of House Goliath, defeating his gang would be one step to taking down WWF as a whole.

Meanwhile, his fellow gang members that had been exiled with Lex were experimenting with other xenos drugs that might give them the same high. "Stardust" and "Emperor's Rain" were only a few of the drugs that Animal and Hawk were using between laboring in whatever refinery that would take them on. One of the side effects of the drugs was that it would change the colour of your skin and veins, making them glow in unusual colours. Some of the other gangers were worse off, unable to function with their addiction. Lex invited Animal and Hawk to his new gang, Once Blind. He would help them through their dependency, as the Emperor never turns away from those most in need.

Bruno and Steele were able to keep working in House Goliath. Steele gave a rousing speech, but the Over-Tyrant was unimpressed. It was only when Steele acted like an animal, biting chairs and spitting out stuffing into the Over-Tyrants face, that he would realize that "Steele" and "Bruno" would make great entertainment in the fighting pits and were hired back. Wasteland Wide Fighters had become corrupt and uncaring about the members of their stable, fellow members would die young from stimms or dangerous work environments. Bruno and Steele would leave the WWF in search of redemption for their slave brethren. Hearing about Lex's new gang, the Once Blind they decide to join him on his journey to dethrone House Goliath.

Lex was amassing his old gang to take on the champion of the Wasteland Wide Fighters, Flik Blair. They ambushed "The Four Headsmen" taking an early advantage in their fight, but the xenos drugs were no match for the real stimm infused gangers. Flik had Lex cornered, when Sting arrived, motivating his would be rival to fight back against Flik.Lex pushes back against Flik, injuring the champion, but before a fatal blow is struck. There was no sight of "The Four Headsmen", but Sting would now join Lex and the rest of the Once Blind to hunt down their former masters.

Some of your eagle eyed readers might have noticed the new game mat I have to show off the Goliath. That's right, I picked up Rogue Trader used from a friend. It would be great to be able to use some of these models in necromunda. I would vote the Starstriders would be a better fit as the Gellerpox models don't really have much in the sense of ranged weapons.... well besides bile and sputtum which might be the most effective ranged weapons in 2020.

I seem to be running a bit behind on the battle reports now. I have soon to be two crusade battles to post. As well as a WarCry campaign that Rachel and I played today. Not to mention the backstory for the Cawdor gang that has been sitting on my desk for ages. 

I blame it on working mornings, making me super lazy after work, but there is definitely time to get stuff done. Gotta stay motivated!

Where did March go?

With the physical distancing I might've got into the notion that it would persist for the major of the year. Predictions are that it will continue till at least May so I think in my mind I wouldn't be able to show off or play with anything that I get painted for quiet some time. I feel this reasoning is when I kind of didn't have much of a focus for painting in March.

But in reality this is a great time to paint up new miniatures and learn new rules, so when we do get to play face to face, we will all have amazing looking armies that are itching for a fight.

Last Sunday, Rachel and I played a game of Warcry with her tree ppl and me playing with my painted Savage Orks. 

I was going to play with khorne daemons, but the blood brushes aren't based and the hounds aren't any better. I did paint up some cerca 97' bloodletters so getting a few hounds and one or two more letters to make an all metal warband might be in the cards for a future project.

I used 40k terrain for this game, as I don't reall own many basic walls that benefits Warcry's card system of deciding terrain. Guess the orks created a rift in time to fight, most likely from screaming WAAAAAAGH too loud.

One of the twists that we rolled for was Dead of Night, which limited ranged attacks to 3", which definitely hurt Rachel more then the Orks.

The dryad kept caressing the Ork boy for 1 damage each turn.

Warcry is played out with essential Yahtzee rolls, so doubles, triples and quads give you different abilities. You are also allowed a wild dice to add to your dice pool, either getting more singles to take initiative or adding it to existing doubles, triples, or quads to unleash better powers.

Rachel popped her Quad ability on the last turn which gave the tree plus 3 strength AND toughness. Making all her trees hit easily and harder to wound. It didn't help much though.

The objective was on the top of the platform, most likely some type of future rock to make weapons with.

Khorne daemons were painted up, the leader with a newish paint scheme and the other two more traditional for the 90s. I don't have any goblin green, so I couldn't go full retro. (or didn't want to.)

I painted up an older flesh hound for Necromunda, possibly as a exotic pet, maybe a Phyrr Cat or a less mutated Khimerix?

Guess I should start on my Necromunda gang then if I am starting on Exotic Beasts. For Goliath, I was thinking that my gang would be dependent on a xenos drug that turns their skin weird colours, maybe even bulging out of their veins as green or something like that. This gang would also be clearly marked as reneges of House Goliath. Escher will most likely be rock stars as per the usual.

I had some left over form board that I made into some nice bamboo forest for Ronin, also 3 of the 7 bandit are finished up. I have been looking at the samurai models on Warlord Games, and they have a good bundle with some foot soldiers, mounted samurai some a terrain piece. The 3 bandits are about 52 pts for Ronin, so I should finish off what I have. I feel like I have been looking at too many new models and not focusing on what I got.

I have some basing materials on order from Redline Hobby, but might be awhile till it arrives.

I think I'll finish off the Bandits I have for Ronin then either start on a Necromunda gang or the Flesh hounds for Warcry. I should also be getting a copy of Star Breach in the mail at some point and I have the Starter set of Wild West Exodus that might be fun to paint up for that game. Let's get through this Pile O Shame!

2020 Painted Vs. Purchased Vs. Played

2019 was a tough year for hobby purchases. Star Wars Legion Starter Set was one of those purchases. (which was an overnight shift impulse buy. But really, you need TWO to get enough tokens, figures and dice, so it was only a matter of time before I grabbed a second one. Besides you need two Lukes and Darth Vaders in one army right?) Which I did paint the Stormtroopers late last year. And of course, I had jumped on the Sisters of Battle HYPE train too!
